Biography

Peter Ragno is a socio-economist specializing in Social Protection and Social Policy, with extensive experience in policy research, analysis, and evidence-based advocacy. He serves as UNICEF's Chief of Social Protection and Social Policy expert.

Before joining UNICEF, he has worked and consulted for multiple agencies and international organizations such as the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the International Organization for Migration and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, GIZ and UNDP on poverty reduction, cash programming and social protection.

Peter has lived and worked across the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Latin America. He is the author of a number of articles and studies on the topics of social protection, poverty, cash transfers, poverty, health and child wellbeing.

Peter Ragno holds a PhD in Development Policy and Management from the University of Manchester and a Master's in Applied Anthropology and Development Studies from the Macquarie University.
