Mr. Carret is the World Bank's Country Director for the Middle East Department (Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria). He joined the World Bank Group in 2005 as a natural resources economist in the Africa Region.
In his current position, Mr. Carret provides the overall strategic leadership for the Bank's engagement in these countries through dialogue with all stakeholders and in line with the Region's emphasis on jobs, sustainable growth, inclusion and governance. He also manages the development of a strong analytical program that can inform policy and investment choices and public debate, as countries aim to institute economic and political reform and/or as they emerge from conflict.
Jean-Christophe Carret holds a PhD in economics from MINES ParisTech.
